FILM REVIEW FRIDAYS: INTOUCHABLES

Welcome in to another FILM REVIEW FRIDAYS. Enjoy!

This week’s film review is: INTOUCHABLES

In Paris, the aristocratic and intellectual Philippe is a quadriplegic millionaire who is interviewing candidates for the position of his career, with his red-haired secretary Magalie. Out of the blue, the rude African Driss cuts the line of candidates and brings a document from the Social Security and asks Phillipe to sign it to prove that he is seeking a job position so he can receive his unemployment benefit. Philippe challenges Driss, offering him a trial period of one month to gain experience helping him. Then Driss can decide whether he would like to stay with him or not. Driss accepts the challenge and moves to the mansion, changing the boring life of Phillipe and his employees. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

I found this film to have a story that was very inspiring and at the same time funny as heck. The actors were all very good and I enjoyed the pace of the film. I definitely think this would be a great view for mostly anyone so I’ll give it 4 stars.

FRIDAY FILM SCREENINGS: MUD

Welcome in to another FRIDAY FILM SCREENINGS.

This weeks screening is: MUD

14 year-old Ellis (Tye Sheridan) lives on a makeshift houseboat on the banks of a river in Arkansas with his parents, Mary Lee (Sarah Paulson) and Senior (Ray McKinnon). He sneaks out early one morning to meet his best friend, Neckbone (Jacob Lofland). Neckbone, also 14, lives with his uncle, Galen (Michael Shannon), who makes a hardscrabble living diving for oysters. The two boys set out to an island on the Mississippi River, where Neckbone has discovered an unusual sight-a boat, suspended high in the trees, a remnant of an extreme flood some time in the past. They climb the tree and into the boat only to find fresh bread and fresh footprints. Realizing that they are not the only ones who have discovered the treehouse boat, they decide to leave. When they reach the shore, they find the same footprint in their boat. And that's when they meet Mud (Matthew McConaughey). Mud is a gritty, superstitious character; his clothes are dirty, his tooth is cracked, and he needs help. He tells the... Written by Roadside Attractions

The thing I find about Matthew McConaughey is that he has become a very versatile actor and has proven he can be just about any character you send his way. In MUD he is at his best in my opinion really making you believe the story he crafts and tells this kid. At the same time you hear all of this cross talk and bad mouthing of him and it’s tough to understand who telling the truth much like this kid in the story. This is one of the well-crafted thrillers that I really enjoyed I give it 4 stars.

FRIDAY FILM SCREENINGS: LUCY

Welcome in to another FRIDAY FILM SCREENINGS.

This week's screening is of:  LUCY

It was supposed to be a simple job. All Lucy had to do was deliver a mysterious briefcase to Mr. Jang. But immediately Lucy is caught up in a nightmarish deal where she is captured and turned into a drug mule for a new and powerful synthetic drug. When the bag she is carrying inside of her stomach leaks, Lucy's body undergoes unimaginable changes that unlocks her mind's full potential 100%. With her new-found powers, Lucy turns into a merciless warrior intent on getting back at her captors. She receives invaluable help from Professor Norman, the leading authority on the human mind, and French police captain Pierre Del Rio. Written by LeiaSolo

As a huge fan of the Writer / Director Luc Besson and after seeing the trailer I felt it was time to make my return to seeing films in the theater. Lately, I’ve been taking in a lot of screenings via Netflix so it was nice to be in the movie theater. Nonetheless, Lucy was cool. I loved the in-depth story of how the brain works, but on a after thought this story was a lot like another story anime fan would know, but Lucy was entertaining Scarlet Johansson gorgeous, Morgan Freeman on point. With that as my critique I give Lucy 4 stars.
