MOD MAN season 2 #4 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Without even realizing what time of year it was in New York Malcolm awoke with Harumi at his side still, asleep in her loft space, to realize it was fashion week. If he hadn’t had so many things on his mind he may have been reminded by the hustle and bustle in Harumi’s loft when he had first arrived. He contemplated what to do as he was sure Harumi would love to have him stay so he calculated the time, being on the east coast time and sent a message to Nicole that he’d be staying just a few more days hoping to capture Harumi’s runway show and coming collection.

Looking out one of the loft windows watching the city below that never sleeps dawn on a new day he was glad he was there. At about that moment Harumi rustled awake knowing she had a full day ahead of her. She moved next to Malcolm falling into his arms telling him of how lovely it was to have some male company. Malcolm smiled as the words left her pretty mouth in broken English tickled him. He then let Harumi know he’d like to be in town for her runway show wondering if he had given himself enough time off to see it. She was giddy with his choice and without a doubt in the back of her mind she could use the support.

Although Malcolm was down to stay he needed to get some work done as well, so when Harumi told him she was scheduled to have her show in two days from then he felt confident if he’d have to lock himself in his hotel room. He could then ask Nicole to send him some of the files he needed to review to keep things moving at the studio. Harumi liked the suggestion only requesting that he meet back with her each night so they could have dinner together. Malcolm obliged her with a kiss and then got dressed and headed back to the hotel to work.

The few days went by fast with that routine while each time he made it back to Harumi’s he could tell she was stressed beyond belief, but she was always smiles when she saw him. His presence grounded her making high stress situations seem like a piece of cake. The evening before the show Harumi and Malcolm ventured out and got him fitted for the show and walking the red carpet looking like a million bucks.

Then came the day of the show and Malcolm got to see first hand the mayhem behind a high fashion event like this. Some people even recognized him from his time as a ball player wondering if he was the boyfriend of one of the models. Malcolm would then reply he was with Harumi one of the designers showing that day. With that as his reason for being there and having back stage access Malcolm at one point wound up on the red carpet with a spectacularly dressed Harumi as the paparazzi captured them together in a flurry of flashes. Malcolm then sat front row with a great view of the runway and the collection to come.

Once the lights dimmed everyone caught their breath and waited for the show to begin. Model after model walked out as the lights came back up flaunting the eclectic garb Harumi had dressed them in. Come the final walk through with all the models and Harumi bringing up the tail end the crowd gave her a standing ovation with Malcolm leading the cheers.

As the close came and the reset for the next designers Malcolm made his way through the crowd mingling with people he’d only meet at New York fashion week he made it backstage to find Harumi. Finally tracking her down she was being interviewed by the NY Times, so Malcolm stood just outside of view watching her beam with pride. That is when he began looking at her as a client. The exposure her runway show would garner might soon catapult her to high fashion status, which she’d then need a studio to represent her in all aspects. Malcolm let the idea float around in the back of his mind and felt he should run the idea by Nicole once back at the studio.

Upon wrapping her last interview Harumi rushed to Malcolm ready for some celebrating. There were numerous events and after parties scheduled that night and every night of fashion week, but Harumi and her team decided on making it to the DETAILS magazine after party, then the COSMOPOLITAIN magazine after party, and finally the GQ after party.

Before calling it a night Malcolm and Harumi ended up back at her loft space excited for the results, but exhausted from all the activities. Malcolm would then be heading back to the west coast on a late evening flight the following day. He had enjoyed his time with her showing him the real world of high fashion. She was grateful he had come and stayed with her she definitely feeling empowered by his support. They ended the night with a stiff drink and lay together till they fell asleep.

The next morning they arose together at which point Malcolm questioned Harumi on what her plans would be now having successfully shown at NY fashion week. She had some solid ideas that Malcolm felt he could get behind, but he didn’t want to divulge his idea for her just yet. At the airport ready to head back to the west coast Malcolm and Harumi looked like “lovers” saying their final goodbyes. They then kissed holding each other close; both hoping it wouldn’t be too long before seeing each other again.

MOD MAN season 2 #3 TRIP TO PERU

Malcolm, Nicole and his team boarded their flight, which would be leaving LAX to Trujillo, Peru in a matter of minutes. Their spirits were up having landed the Toro Perfecto account, a tequila brand out of Peru, they were excited to actually set foot on the factory floor and learn more about the family and the how the tequila was made. The entire flight would be just short of 13 hours with one stop along the way so everyone prepared himself or herself for the lengthy trip.

Malcolm since making the switch from a pro ball player, some years back, had made a habit of recording his life’s story with the intent of someday writing a book, was at his seat documenting the trip so far as well as his mindset. Nicole and Malcolm sat side by side, while other members of the team were paired up so no one felt left out. The plan devised by Malcolm and Nicole was to soak in the culture of Peru and gain the story of how the house of Toro Perfecto was formed from its earliest beginnings. They didn’t want to go in with any preconceived ideas, but they wanted to make sure when they left they had a better understanding than when they arrived.

Their flight was near capacity as the stewardess addressed the passengers and the flight was off. Malcolm thought back to the night he had with Ms. Arguello and wondered how things would play out with her once he arrived. Keeping it professional was of the utmost importance, but Malcolm in the back of his mind would from time to time fantasize of the possibilities if he had followed her up to her room in that elevator. He was quite sure she was open to the idea seeing that longing gaze she had given him as the elevator doors closed.

Finally making it to Peru they were met by an associate of the family and Malcolm, Nicole and his team were caravanned to the Toro Perfecto family compound. Along the ride as a courtesy of the family they decked out the SUV’s with simple appetizers and a collection of tequila samples from the current products on the market. So once they arrived at the compound a lavish estate out in the middle of an expansive lay of land everyone was all smiles and were feeling good. Then Ms. Arguello and her father walked out from their multi – million home and greeted Malcolm and his team. Elder Mr. Arguello shook Malcolm’s hand warmly saying that his daughter spoke highly of him and his vision for the brand. Malcolm wasn’t surprised as he felt his work was strong and the product he could deliver for the brand could be off the charts.

As everyone continued to mingle Malcolm reacquainted himself with Ms. Arguello shaking her hand and giving her a slight embrace. They looked at each other as if they had unfinished business, yet there was a hesitation in her gaze that alerted Malcolm to not indulge anymore. That hesitation came from the fact she was now newly engaged. Malcolm spotting the considerable sized diamond on her left hand and the would be groom whom walked up to her embracing her from behind with a smile as if he was claiming his property in the view of a worthy competitor.

Malcolm didn’t know what to think, he didn’t come all this way for her yet his thoughts of what could be evaporated at that moment returning him to a sole focus of gathering information that would aid in the campaign. After everyone had settled into the massive guesthouse on site that contained everyone nicely, Malcolm and his team were then invited to the company fiesta where boardroom workers, factory staff, and field workers came together in celebration of the product they all so lovingly made. The layout was incredible. Malcolm talked with the lawyer and the accountant that had come out to his studio with Ms. Arguello, telling him how over the years this event had grown as the company did. Tequila and authentic Peruvian food flowed throughout the venue as traditional music played. Everywhere you looked you saw the people whom worked there enjoying every minute of the fiesta.

As the night progressed Malcolm found himself alone with Ms. Arguello, whom begged him to call her Marta. Malcolm then addressed her by her first name letting her know he was happy to hear of her engagement. She did seem different, not as ambitious or driven as she had been when she visited. As she spoke addressing his congratulations she did hint toward something, but stopped immediately as Roy, her fiancée walked up and vocally ushered her away. Malcolm knew he shouldn’t pry, he had a job to ultimately do he couldn’t afford more. Yet along the surface of things it was all extravagant and full of joy. Malcolm had to wonder what he’d find if he just pulled back a layer or two what it would reveal then.

MY NETFLIX MOVIE REVIEWS #94

A "story inside a story," in which the first part follows a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. The second element follows the actual manuscript, called "Nocturnal Animals," which revolves around a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly. It also continues to follow the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself. (Courtesy of Internet Movie Database)

It is funny to think at one point I was really into fashion. I knew and learned a lot in that time from the designers to types of fabrics and cuts. I had even researched Tom Ford and his fashion empire. At a certain point I found that he was to direct a film called A SINGLE MAN I never saw that film, but then he directed another and that was NOCTURNAL ANIMALS. Upon finally seeing the film I was drawn to the sense of style and class that of course Tom Ford would bring to a film. After that the film struck me as a very David Lynch-esqe film, meaning it was very tense and took you to many layers of one story from the past, present, and the made up. To be honest I watched this film twice feeling that in a second viewing I’d gather more of the underlining meanings of certain things uncovering the haunting mystery of this film.  So for NOCTURNAL ANIMALS I give it 5 stars.

MOD MAN season 2 #2 THE AFTERMATH

The moment Malcolm hit that wall to catch the game winning homer he winced in pain and knew something was wrong. Then in the heat of the moment throwing out the runner trying to advance was something he couldn’t help it was a reaction. Malcolm replayed the events over and over in his head as he lay down getting x ray’d.

Malcolm had arrived at the ER immediately after the game heading to the nearest hospital with his right arm in a sling. The outlook was up in the air as no one including the team docs could diagnose what type of injury he had. Malcolm tried to stay positive with nearly and hour of waiting allowed the bleak scenarios to play out in Malcolm’s mind. With these reoccurring visions of not being able to play ball again, as the injury was in his throwing arm & shoulder his emotions were on edge.

After finally wrapping up the x ray Malcolm was forced to wait around for the doctor to explain to him what had happened and what would be his steps to recovery. The season was winding down and playoffs were insight so a speedy recovery would be ideal, yet the face of the doctor as he walked up to Malcolm sitting in the meditation room to get some peace and be out of the view of onlookers and people asking for autographs, he knew it wasn’t good.

The doctor explained the injury as tears again began to well up in Malcolm’s eyes. His season was over so regardless if his team continued on to the playoffs he wouldn’t be available. The doctor continued to explain that the combination of him hitting the wall just so and then the quick torking of his body to throw compounded the injury.

Hopes for the next year with the right surgery and rehab could get Malcolm back to his old self, but it would take patience and immense dedication. Malcolm thanked the doctor for his honesty and for helping him get his head around what had just happened. When Malcolm finally checked his phone there were tons of inquiries and posts from friends and fans wishing him their best. Then there were texts from close friends and family yet none touched him as much as the ones from Candace. She was watching the game back home in Texas and the TV. coverage glanced over the injury, but had shown Malcolm making his way off the field in great pain. Her messages explained how she wanted to be there for him desperately yet she was leaving for Europe to visit the campus where she’d be studying for her masters and there really wasn’t much she could do but send positive loving vibes. Malcolm could feel her heart was in pain for him as he read her messages. The out pouring of concern from others touched him as well and the more the realization of the moment hit him the more tears flowed till he was sobbing wondering how he had gotten to this point.

The next morning he awoke in his own bed in tremendous pain forcing him to take the pain meds prescribed to him by the doctor. Every little task seemed impossible for Malcolm to complete with one arm. Within his luxurious spacious house that at one time he adored now it just felt lonely.

He looked over the paperwork the doctor gave him on the complex injury he had and the type of surgery it would take to repair the damage. He also had a list of rehab doctors and therapists that he could opt to see after the surgery. Sitting out on his porch again contemplating the play, his life, and the dream he had reached of playing in the big leagues kept him in a somber mood. Then at one point Malcolm reflected realizing he had received not one call, text, or appearance from any of his teammates or coaching staff, it was almost like nothing had happened at all. Without drawing too many conclusions on the matter he knew at some point their silence would need to be addressed. For now he had to take it easy lying in the sun again thinking about the unpredictableness of life.

As he was deep in thought a knock came to his front door and when he finally reached to open it he found his family his Mother, Father, brother and sister and their growing family. That was the moment Malcolm realized the aftermath of his injury would be tough, but that he’d be o.k. as he had family who was there for him.

MOD MAN season 2 #1 THE DINNER PARTY

Malcolm had woken this morning feeling light, feeling good. He went through his morning routine which included a mile jog down the beach and some light upper body work as both Okoye and Kimberly dawned their skimpiest bikini’s to soak in the sun poolside.

At around that time Malcolm got a call from Summer in a little bit of a melt down realizing she didn’t have anything to wear to the dinner part at the Beckham’s that evening. Malcolm wanted to present well and standing with a beautiful woman impeccably dressed at your side would do that. So knowing he had to go into the studio for a bit and meet with Nicole he agreed to meet up with Summer and help her pick something up that coordinated with what he was planning to wear that night.

Once he got off the phone with Summer Okoye and Kimberly questioned if they were invited overhearing the conversation, as well as asking whom this Summer person was, Malcolm, sensing a bit of jealous in their tone.

Malcolm then showered got dressed and laid out his clothes for the evening. As he left the house he could hear the continuing grumblings of Okoye and Kimberly, as they were not handling the non-invite very well. Still feeling an overall good feeling about the day he ignored their negativity and headed to the studio. The drive down only continued Malcolm’s great feeling with a pleasant drive and a spectacular ocean view.

Once making it to the studio he met with Nicole who was taking a call with some brokers, via Skype, looking to break into the film industry. Upon the end of the conference call Nicole and Malcolm talked of the possibilities of the work, which would still be some years out as they had a few scripts in development. The meeting of their minds created some interesting possibilities yet more research on the brokers themselves was needed. The two also talked about an upcoming company retreat. With a wrap on the days business Malcolm was still feeling up and thanked Nicole with a hug for her service and then headed out to pickup Summer and go dress shopping hoping they could find something quickly.

Malcolm was right, as after picking up Summer and after visiting three boutiques on State Street Summer had tried on a lot of dresses, but none was just right. At one point Malcolm slipped away and walked into his barber’s shop for a bit of a tidy and line up. The two men and the other barbers got into a heavy debate over the upcoming big fight night to hit pay per view. They also shared in some jokes as well as ogling the women that walked by the barbershops large front window.

Upon leaving the barbershop looking good Malcolm found Summer in the last boutique on State Street having made a decision, but at the register her card was declined. She was so sure this was the dress and embarrassed to not have the funds to pay for it Malcolm couldn’t ask her to leave without it. So calmly he purchased the dress for Summer keeping the flow of good vibes going. Then from leaving the downtown district Malcolm dropped Summer at her apartment and would be back for her later. Hoping she’d be ready as the whole shopping thing took longer than expected.

Back at Malcolm’s place he’d find Kimberly working on lines for an upcoming audition by herself on the balcony, while there was no sight of Okoye. So Malcolm freshened up, changed and selected a nice bottle of vintage wine from his continuing to grow wine collection as a gift to the Beckham’s and was back on the road to pickup Summer.

Dreading he would show up and she’d have another crisis he crossed his fingers she’d be ready. To his surprise she was more than that she was ready and looking amazing like something out of a fashion magazine. He opened the door of his Lexus as they shared a kiss on the cheek and they were off to the Beckham’s.

Pulling up to the luxurious estate with valet parking sent butterflies in both of heir stomachs excited for a special night. As David had told him upon inviting him, dinner would be outside with the most amazing sunset either of them had seen. There were some other famous names in attendance like model Ashley Graham, real estate tycoon Linda Cochran, master marketer Gary Vaynerchuck, actress Sanna Latham, and film director Martin Scorsese to name a few. The estate was as marvelous as the dinner and the community of people sharing and talking. Malcolm hung on almost every word from Mr. Scorsese hoping to soak up any morsel of greatness to add to his repertoire. While Summer vibed with Ashley Graham who gave her advice as a fuller figure model.

Malcolm enjoyed talking with the entire guest and seeing his beautiful date wowing others with her well spoke manner and knowledge was something Malcolm would not soon forget. Yet as it came to a close networking opportunities were solidified and David took Malcolm aside dropping a bit of knowledge himself on Malcolm about his date Summer claiming he had seen her with another man recently and they looked rather cozy. The good feeling Malcolm had going all day had reached its apex and began to plateau wondering if this was the producer from Sony, which he knew about, but wished Summer would have told him about it.

The day had been fantastic, Summer was fantastic David was just doing what a true friend would do. On the ride to drop off Summer, Malcolm listened to the excited re telling of the nights festivities from Summer. There was no dispute the night was incredible. Yet at the drop off they talked a bit more and Summer invited him up to which he declined. In his mind the ambiguity of her relationship status demanded it. He didn’t want to be caught up in a love triangle although her body was calling him and speaking his language. They then kissed passionately and Malcolm watched her make it to her apartment safely and headed home.

As the good vibes from the day continued to dissipate at a rapid rate he thought on the possibilities of him and Summer. By the time he reached home he had counted them out caught up in his mind about the unforeseen future he didn’t take well to the questions posed to him about his night by Okoye, whom was still up reading in the living room adjacent the kitchen where Malcolm was getting a drink.

Feeling a bit rambunctious Malcolm played with her getting into her mind acting sorry for not taking her. They shared a bottle of wine and a moment. The unfettered attention Malcolm was showing Okoye softened her up so much that she then begged for more allowing Malcolm to take her right there over the kitchen counter ruthlessly.

MY NETFLIX MOVIE REVIEWS #93

'Slow West' follows a 16-year-old boy on a journey across 19th Century frontier America in search of the woman he loves, while accompanied by mysterious traveler Silas. Written by Anonymous (Courtesy of Internet Movie Database)

I didn’t know what to expect from this unassuming western called SLOW WEST. I watched the trailer to get a sense of the film and it did intrigue me and set itself from the previous westerns I had viewed. Yet at the same time the casting of Michael Fassbender further intrigued me and so I watched. Upon viewing SLOW WEST I found myself caught up in this story of love in the wild wild west. By all means this film sheds the conventions of a typical western, which was refreshing and made me wonder why more films in the western genre have not told alternative stories about the wild west. So for SLOW WEST I give it 4 stars.
