This week's film screening and review is END OF WATCH.
In South
Central Los Angeles, street cops Brian and Mike are partners - balls-out
cowboys patrolling the streets as Latino gangs are in a power struggle with
Blacks. Brian and Mike get lucky a couple of times, making big drug and
human-trafficking busts, so a Mexican cartel orders their deaths. We meet
Mike's pregnant wife (whom he married out of high school) and watch Brian's
search for a soul mate. There are internal squabbles within the ranks of the
LAPD and lots of squad-car conversation. Can the lads escape the cartel's
murderous reach? Written by
I missed
a chance to see this film in the theater ultimately having to wait for it to
pop up on Netflix. From what I was told, for some the style that the film was
shot in was hard to watch on the big screen, making some sick from all the shaky
camera movement and video game style perspective. That aside I really enjoyed
the gritty cop story a lot and felt that was the most important aspect for me.
The actors seemed genuine and the pace of the story felt believable. I was
definetly on edge as parts of the film were rather gruesome, but overall really
enjoyed the film so I give it 3 stars.
