Being one to claim that Shia Labeouf is one of Hollywood’s
more underrated actors I’ll gravitate to a film if he is in it. In the case of
AMERICAN HONEY it was just that, seeing the trailer to this road film and the
presence of LaBeouf I was sold. Upon watching, I was quickly absorbed into this
film’s story and the characters portryaed in it having had young adults come to
my door selling magazine subscriptions. As the story progresses there are some
real intense scenes that show the peril of those living this type of lifestyle. That said, it was a bit long and seemed to just carry on without a purpose. So for AMERICAN HONEY I give it 3.75 of 5 stars.
