Quentin
Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where
everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his
longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry
they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features
a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments
of Hollywood's golden age. (Courtesy of Internet Movie Database)
So finally getting out to see ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
I now have to review it. Having seen all of his films I find this one to be the
one with out much of a framework like his past films. In a sense this film I
felt was less structured in telling a dynamic story than his past films. Some
may call it rambling, a story about nothing, or even underwhelming. Yet
throughout the film, a film made to celebrate a city and an era dear to
Tarantino himself I sat tensely wondering how he was going to complete this
story admits a background many were already familiar with. To my joy Tarantino
took his own route much like he did in INGLORIOUS BASTARDS and DJANGO to create
his own version of history. So for ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD I give it 3.5
of 5.
