The view from the top was something Gale believed was something to behold, but when he finally got there, it left him speechless. He had worked at the Orielly firm since he graduated college, starting in the copy room, and now some ten years later, he was a full-fledged partner.
He had now been assigned an office with a view that stretched for miles above the NY skyline. The next business order was getting his house in order, which meant hiring an assistant and then scheduling out leads to keep doing business, while the final tidbits in his transition took place.
Gale was set up in a conference room and interviewed by himself potential candidates to be his assistant. He wanted someone hardworking and attention to detail, who would show up on time and help him, get his work done. All of that sounded good and was probably the type of work ethic that helped Gale up the firm ladder, but the moment she walked into the conference room, all of that changed.
Gale was still a young, in his early 30's, single, close with his family, a devout a religious family. He had girlfriends on and off and had dated many women, but none of them were the caliber of woman he was now looking at to be his perspective assistant. There was no way he could hire her; she'd soon become a temptation to Gale as he was already feeling a bit of an attraction, any man would, but Gale tried not to see it that way and continue with the interview.
Maintain the same process he had with the other applicants. Gale worked to contain himself staying on script, but she was 5'9, 6'0 in heels a woman with curly deep chocolate brown hair, tan skin with a hint of an accent. When she talked, her bee-stung lips would purse as if she was preparing to blow him a kiss. Gale knew this was going to be a do or die situation, and he was smart enough to know hiring someone this attractive could cause some HR problems. He even thought about his partners and not wanting them to get tempted either.
He especially didn't want his first decision as a partner to be bringing in a fox to the chicken coop. Gale recited her name aloud, "Belinda." She was smart as she was beautiful. A few years younger than Gale with a degree, which was more than Gale had when he started at Orielly in the copy room.
As the interview closed, Gale watched Belinda uncross her legs in her form tight pearl Chanel dress and stand up across from him and shake his hand, and at that moment, Gale threw caution to the wind uttering these words "I guess you're it, you got the position you can start tomorrow.
