MY NETFLIX MOVIE REVIEWS #226

In this third installment of the adrenaline-fueled action franchise, skilled assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) returns with a $14 million price tag on his head and an army of bounty-hunting killers on his trail. After killing a member of the shadowy international assassin's guild, the High Table, John Wick is excommunicado, but the world's most ruthless hit men and women await his every turn. JOHN WICK 3  (2019) is directed by Chad Stahelski written by Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, Chris Collins, and Marc Abrams, produced by Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee. At this point, you can say I am a JOHN WICK fan yet having never looked into the source material of the graphic novel I don’t consider myself a true fan, which may also explain my not quite buying into this world and story of JOHN WICK 3.

Coming into this 3rd film it became apparent that the story had to drive this film as in each film they have been able to keep things fresh via fight and gun seen taking them to the next level. Yet as I watched the excommunicado of JOHN WICK that happened at the end of the previous film it starts this one and I had my questions. And with that as the story's driving force, I felt the ways around it seem contrite, which is where a bit more background knowledge of the characters he meets would be helpful in piecing this story together.

In the End: JOHN WICK 3 PARABELLUM delivered in the usual ways and then some, yet without watering the story down too much with backstory in film knowledge of the source material is important. So for this film, I give it 3.5 of 5 stars.
