NETFLIX & CHILL #42

A crime drama set in New York City during the winter of 1981, statistically one of the most violent years in the city's history, and centered on the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built. Written by Production (Courtesy of Internet Movie Database)

A MOST VIOLENT YEAR is written and directed by J.C. Chandor and produced by Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb. To me was a fantastic film; it was a slow churning thriller moral tale that made you think. The idea that a man who wants his business to stay honest no matter the odds or circumstances is a story we need to hear in these days and times. Cinematically the film looks amazing and builds the tension very well. Again pacing is very deliberate and slows you down so in one scene to explode in the next. This is not the type of gangster film you are used to so be prepared. So as for A MOST VIOLENT YEAR I give it four stars as a very thought provoking and entertaining film.
