FILM REVIEW: BULLY

After a big shoot at the local drive in BIG AL’S lead to a weekend of looking over the shoot to see some of the photos. I can obsess sometimes at this stage, but this time I broke away long enough enjoy to take in a movie. The film I watched was BULLY from the same director of the film KIDS, which in my eyes is a classic even if it was shot in .

Bully directed by Larry Clark, written by Jim Schultze, from the book written by David Mckenna, starring Brad Renfro, Nick Stahl and Bijou Phillips, and produced by Chris Hanley, Don Murphy, and Fernando Sulichin. This is the story of Marty who continually finds himself at the constant abuse of his best friend Bobby, Marty has become fed up with his friend's twisted ways. His girlfriend, a victim of Bobby's often cruel ways, couldn't agree more and they strategize murdering Bobby, with a group of willing and unwilling participants in a small Florida town. In the midst of their plotting, they find themselves contemplating with the possible aftermath of what could happen.Written by MonkeyKingMA

I liked this film because of its pace and its ability to tell you a story without showing you everything, allowing you to decipher on your own. This way of telling the story draws you in and then you find yourself in this “Oh Shit!” moment that leaves you asking what the hell just happened. Furthermore to understand this was based on a true story boggles my mind. Another film with a similar story line is ALFA DOG a great film on its own. So for the film BULLY I give it 4 stars.
